Oakland Mural Project

This mural was part of the construction of a 24-unit apartment complex on 40th Street in Downtown Oakland. In designing its composition, Michael was inspired by Oakland's own rolling hills and namesake oak trees. His depiction of these elements is decidedly simplified, however, so that the image space becomes an ethereal geometric arrangement of shapes and forms, activated and brought to life by the presence of two cows and a figure on horseback.
